The Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force (IPBDTF) received another commendation for their successful implementation of anti-illegal fishing campaign, this time from the environmental movement Pasalamat sa Katauhan with endorsement from the United Nations (UN) – Environment. The commendation was presented to them by environmental lawyer Antonio Oposa, Jr. last Saturday, July 22, 2017, during the Visayan Sea Governors Meeting in Sicogon Island, Carles, Iloilo.

ILOILO – Fifteen fishermen from Negros Occidental were caught using the forbidden trawlboat, a modified Danish seine, in marine waters off Baliguian Is., in Brgy.,Malangabang, Concepcion, Iloilo over the weekend.
PO3 Philip Cañoso of the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force reported on Monday that the fishermen were led by their 42-year-old captain Jill Rinquijo, a resident of Brgy. Tortosa, Manapla, Negros Occidental.
ILOILO – The impression and experience of patients of the services in three remote hospitals here were satisfactory, according to a recent survey conducted by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Held as an assessment tool, the survey used 750 respondents from inter-local health zones where Aleosan District Hospital, Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Sr. Memorial Hospital and Jesus M. Colmenares District Hospital operate.
ILOILO – The provincial government, through its Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force, is seeking the prosecution of the owners, boat captains and other high ranking officials manning the four hulbot-hulbot boats they apprehended this year.
Led by SPO1 Jose Ronnie Panes and PO3 Philip Canoso, the task force has filed criminal complaints against boat captains Herman Tanes et al. of F/B Bherry, Celso Zapa et. al. of F/B Julita and Ronald Santillan et. al. of F/B Rosal.
ILOILO – Eight fishermen have been arrested over the weekend for alleged illegal fishing in two separate operations in Concepcion and Carles towns here.
Operating within municipal waters, SPO1 Jose Ronnie Panes reported on Monday that these fishermen were gathering fish using round haul seine or “sinsoro” and trawl without permit from the municipal governments.

ILOILO – Fishermen gathering shellfish without permit were apprehended by Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force off the coast of Bago-Alas Island, Brgy. Taloto-an, Concepcion over the weekend.
The task force headed by SPO1 Jose Ronnie Panes reported on Monday that the fishermen were caught in two separate seaborne operations.
First to fall were the ten fishermen who were using air compressor to gather shellfish and were onboard the following motorboat:
ILOILO – Fifteen fishermen without permit to operate have been arrested in Concepcion and Carles, according to reports from the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force.
SPO1 Jose Ronnie Panes said the arrested fishermen paid compromise fines ranging from P2,500 to P5,000 each depending on the type of violation.
Panes said the fishermen were using round haul/siene, squid trawl and shrimp trawl when they were caught fishing within the municipal waters of both towns.
