Iloilo police office goes online

ILOILO – Taking advantage of the information superhighway, the Iloilo Provincial Police Office created its own website ( to promote their crime-prevention services, and community relation activities. The website, which also features the province’s most wanted personalities for their immediate apprehension, is the first in Western Visayas, according to Police Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas.

ILOILO – The provincial government of Iloilo recognized its top taxpayers and outstanding municipalities and barangays during the celebration of its 114th foundation here on Tuesday. According to Provincial Treasurer Melba Sullivan, the aggressive campaign on tax amnesty last year brought a dramatic increase in real property tax (RPT) collection.

Iloilo Hails Retirees, Scholars

ILOILO – The provincial government will end the celebration of Iloilo’s 114th anniversary by honoring its retirees and performing scholars in different state-owned colleges and universities here on Friday (April 10). Organized by the Human Resource and Management Office, the 2015 “Pasidungog” will award the certificate of recognition, medals and incentives to 80 retiring provincial government employees and 24 scholars.

ILOILO – The Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force led by SPO1 Gilbert Piedad has begun patrolling 24/7 to protect the marine reserve of this province from poachers and illegal fishers. Piedad said they have to intensify their presence at sea given the resurgence of illegal fishing and in anticipation of the possible increase in their operation during the lean season.

Iloilo Now a GAD Learning Hub

ILOILO – The Province of Iloilo, under the leadership of Governor Arthur Defensor Sr., has been named as one of the five Gender and Development (GAD) Local Learning Hubs (LLH) in the Philippines. The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) recognized the governor’s initiatives to empower women along with the works of the provinces of Quezon, Aklan, Camarines Sur and Davao del Sur.

Performing Iloilo Health Units Named

ILOILO – In recognition of their efficient delivery of childcare services, the provincial government of Iloilo named the top performing rural health units here in a ceremony held at Regatta Residence Hotel in Iloilo City on Wednesday (April 22). Organized by the Provincial Health Office, the awards were meant for health units which excelled in the implementation of Integrated Management of Childhood Illness, Oral Health Care and Expanded Program on Immunization (e.g. measles rubella, oral polio vaccines, fully-immunized children). 

Sanitation Code up for Implementation

ILOILO – The Iloilo Sanitation Code (ISC), the first in Western Visayas, has gained the approval of Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. and will soon be implemented in 43 local government units here. The Provincial Ordinance No. 2015-120 or the Sanitation Code of the Province of Iloilo was sponsored by Board Member Carmen Rita Bautista and co-sponsored by Board Member June Mondejar. It was signed into law by the governor on Tuesday.

Guv Embarks on Stream Bank Reforestation

ILOILO – As part of his campaign to protect the environment, Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. is embarking on stream bank reforestation to prevent bank erosion and siltation of rivers in the province. The project is part of his Rainwater Harvesting and Watershed Board Strengthening Program under the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office.
