Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. released a total of P15,134,999 million for various school projects in the province on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. He distributed the checks to recipient schools, received by their respective principals and officials, in a ceremony held at Casa Real de Iloilo.
A total of 60 public schools -- 29 elementary and 31 secondary -- were recipients of the funds, where each school were given an amount depending on the project proposals they submitted.

Farmers in Iloilo are starting to feel the brunt of the El Niño and claims for crop insurance have started to mount at the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).
