Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr., Mina Mayor Rey Grabato, Pototan Mayor Tomas Peñaflorida, DILG provincial director Teodora Sumagaysay and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias led the groundbreaking ceremony for the concreting of the 8.3-kilometer Talibong-Yugot-Nabitasan-Naslo road held in front of Mina National High School in Brgy. Bangac.
DILG gave Iloilo province a grant of P413 million this year for the CMGP. Iloilo province availed of the grant because it has consistently obtained the Seal of Good Local Governance and it has complied with the requirements set by the agency.
Acting DILG chief Catalino Cuy, in a letter to Gov. Arthur Defensor dated October 30, said that the Province of Iloilo has "met the upgraded criteria for 2017" of the Seal Good Local Governance (SGLG).
This is the third SGLG of the Province of Iloilo, having won its first in 2015 and its second in 2016.
This after the Land Bank of the Philippines declared the Province of Iloilo as official merchant of their Electronic Payment Portal (ePP). ePP is an alternative payment channel that allows clients to pay for products and services offered by government and private institutions via the internet.

ILOILO – A short film that advocates for the prevention of depression leading to suicide was adjudged as this year’s winner in the recently concluded inspirational short film making contest of the Provincial Population Office.
Besting 29 other entries, the winning short film entitled “Pang-agda sa Kadulom” (Invitation to Darkness) was directed and produced by peer helpers of Guimbal National High School (NHS) Teen Center.

ILOILO – Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has provided P2.5-million financial assistance to support the implementation of two community development projects in Pototan and Leon.
Of the aid, P2-million will be for the construction of the first conference hall in Pototan and the remaining P550,000 will be for the rehabilitation of Sibalom River situated in Barangays Biri Sur and Omambong in Leon.
ILOILO – All roads lead to Pototan today (November 29) as the town’s coliseum hosts the Barangay Service Point Officer Congress 2017 organized by the Provincial Population Office of the provincial government.
A total of 2,634 BSPO volunteers from 43 local government units in Iloilo are expected to attend the congress to celebrate their achievement in data collection efficiency this year.
