OVER a thousand residents from nine remote villages in Calinog, Iloilo will now have access to speedy health referral following the turnover of their multipurpose emergency vehicle on Monday, October 3.

Fulfilling his commitment, Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. donated a multicab worth P250,000 to Supanga village to minimize the possible mortality of patients due to delay in hospital referral.

The multipurpose emergency vehicle will be stationed in Supanga, a mountainous village in Calinog located 36 kilometers from the town’s proper.

It will also serve the villages of Binolosan Pequeño and Grande, Manripay, Tigbayog, Caratagan, Aglonok, Marandig, and Hilwan.

“Before, without any vehicle, some of my residents would die on the road before they could reach the district hospital in Calinog. But now, we hope that this can fix the problem,” said Supanga Village Chief Danilo Canja Jr.

Canja added the other eight villages will help them maintain the vehicle to its optimum performance.

“We are grateful to our governor for this vehicle. It means a lot to us, especially to our poor constituents who can’t afford to hire public or private vehicle to transport their patients to the nearest hospital,” he said.

The multipurpose emergency vehicle will also be used to search and rescue victims during disasters.
