Passi National High School (PNHS) community thanked Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. for officially donating a seven-hectare lot to the school.
As a gesture of gratitude to Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr., they have put up a marker signifying the donation. Gov. Defensor led the unveiling of the marker located near the school’s entrance on Wednesday, January 11, 2017.
Also present in the historic occasion were Passi City officials led by Vice Mayor Bonifacio Barbero, Passi City Assistant Schools Division Supertintendent Feliciano Buenafe, Jr., former Iloilo Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Raymundo Lapating, former Department of Education regional director Corazon Brown, Federated PTA officers, barangay officials and other stakeholders. PNHS principal Rey Deatras said the lot donation is very significant to the PNHS community as the school grows continuously. “It has long been our dream (referring to the lot donation) and we thank Gov. Defensor for making our dream a reality,” Deatras said, adding “the lot donation gives us an assurance and a sense of ownership over the property.”
The seven-hectare property located within the PNHS compound is being used by the school for various academic purposes. “Now that the lot is officially transferred to PNHS we can already make future plans such as building more classroom buildings and other school facilities,” Deatras said.
Gov. Defensor said he did not hesitate to approve the donation of the seven-hectare lot to PNHS since he believes it will greatly help improve the quality of education in the school. He cited that improving the quality of education in the province is one of his administration’s priorities. Defensor noted that PNHS is close to his heart since his father, the late Santiago Defensor, served as the first principal of the school.
