Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr. led the launching of "Limpyo sa Hunyo: Panglimpyo para sa Dengue kag Baha" this morning.
Representatives from Department of Health, Department of Interior and Local Government, Iloilo Provincial Police Office, Land Transportation Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, and many other national government agencies and non-government organizations joined the kick-off ceremony of the intensified clean-up activity.
Contingents held a caravan to the five districts of the province to heighten the awareness of the people on the need to sustain the clean up to prevent the repeat of Dengue outbreak.
Defensor also turned over checks amounting to PhP 2 million each to the municipalities of Lambunao, Zarraga, Guimbal, Miagao, Banate and Ajuy for the procurement of rubber/rescue boat.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) chief Dr. Jerry Bionat said other municipalities are still processing their papers to avail of the rubber/rescue boat.
