Capitol to Hold 1st ‘Pasidungog sa Nutrisyon’

The Iloilo provincial government will give recognition to local government units (LGU) and key players in the implementation of nutrition programs through the first ever Pasidungog sa Nutrisyon 2017 this Thursday (December 7, 2017), 9:00 a.m. at the Social Hall of Casa Real de Iloilo.

Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr., who chairs the Provincial Nutrition Council (PNC), will give the plaques, certificates and cash incentives to the lucky awardees.

Pototan hosts BSPO Congress 2017

More than 2,000 Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO) from the 42 municipalities and one component city of Iloilo province filled the Pototan Astrodome in Pototan, Iloilo on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 for their annual BSPO Congress. Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. and Third District Congressman Arthur Defensor, Jr. graced the event which gathered the BSPOs for a day of recognition and fun-filled activities.

ILOILO – All roads lead to Pototan today (November 29) as the town’s coliseum hosts the Barangay Service Point Officer Congress 2017 organized by the Provincial Population Office of the provincial government.

A total of 2,634 BSPO volunteers from 43 local government units in Iloilo are expected to attend the congress to celebrate their achievement in data collection efficiency this year.

Defensor gives P2.5M aid to Pototan, Leon

ILOILO – Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has provided P2.5-million financial assistance to support the implementation of two community development projects in Pototan and Leon.

Of the aid, P2-million will be for the construction of the first conference hall in Pototan and the remaining P550,000 will be for the rehabilitation of Sibalom River situated in Barangays Biri Sur and Omambong in Leon.

Guimbal NHS wins Capitol’s short film contest

ILOILO – A short film that advocates for the prevention of depression leading to suicide was adjudged as this year’s winner in the recently concluded inspirational short film making contest of the Provincial Population Office.
Besting 29 other entries, the winning short film entitled “Pang-agda sa Kadulom” (Invitation to Darkness) was directed and produced by peer helpers of Guimbal National High School (NHS) Teen Center.
