Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. called for a meeting with the hospital chiefs and administrative officers of the 12 hospitals operated by the provincial government on Friday, July 28, 2017, to thresh out certain issues hounding the hospitals. Gov. Defensor reminded them that the provincial government-owned hospitals are "hospitals for the poor". He stressed that indigents should be given priority and that they could avail of ambulance services free of charge. Other matters regarding the ongoing construction activities in the hospitals were also tackled wherein Gov.
Indigents can use the ambulances of the 12 hospitals operated by the Iloilo provincial government free of charge. This is the directive of Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. contained in Executive Order No. 183 which he signed yesterday (July 27, 2017) upon arriving from Manila. The order on the free use of ambulances also include those in urgent and emergency cases. Defensor issued the directive amid complaints from the family of some patients that they are charged a certain amount when they intend to use the ambulance to transfer their patient to Iloilo City.
