ILOILO — Over P10.01-million worth of financial assistance from its 20% Internal Revenue Allotment has been released by the provincial government for the construction of various community development projects in 24 towns here.
Of the aid, P8.28-million was a subsidy granted by Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. to the proposed infrastructure projects of 33 barangays and two academic institutions in Passi City, Lambunao, Lemery, Dumangas, Miagao, Concepcion, Ajuy, Cabatuan, Calinog, Tubungan, San Joaquin, Estancia, Alimodian, Leon, Pototan, New Lucena and Maasin.
Notably, P2.20-million of these funds went to Lambunao for the rehabilitation of San Gregorio Bridge and P1.56-million for the construction and improvement of Day Care Centers in 11 selected villages.
A total of P1.23-million was for the construction of hanging bridge from Brgys. Cagbang to Bolocaue in Miagao and P1-million for the purchase of lot intended as site for Ajuy National High School in Ajuy.
Other projects were composed of construction, repair or improvement of multipurpose centers (P520,000), footbridges (P450,000), streetlights (P400,o00), gymnasiums (P400,000), health centers (P250,000) and purchase of computers.
Meanwhile, the remaining P1.72-million represents the initial release of funds for the Community Development Assistance Program of Provincial Board Members Dennis Valencia (P270,000), Ninfa Garin (P50,000), June Mondejar (P190,000), Licurgo Tirador (P95,000), Emmanuel Gallar (P570,000), Shalene Hidalgo (P270,000), and Paulino Parian (P280,000).
