Last Saturday, September 23, 2017, Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. led the groundbreaking ceremony for the concreting of a 2.5-kilometer provincial road from the national highway to Brgy. Embarkadero in the said town.
Around 250 coaches and trainers attended the two-day Advanced Training and Accreditation for top priority sports conducted by the Iloilo Sports Development and Management Office (ISDMO) through the Center for Sports and Physical Fitness (CSPF) which started on Friday, September 22, 2017. The training conducted at the Iloilo National High School (INHS) centered on top priority sports, namely, athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, swimming, tennis and volleyball.
About 6,000 seedlings of indigenous trees such as kamagong, narra and jackfruit were planted by more than 2,000 volunteers in barangays Bongol and Balanac in Janiuay town last Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017. The three planting activity is in celebration of the 18th Pyesta sa Kakahuyan which is a brainchild of Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr.
