Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. graced the inauguration of the Metro Iloilo Water District’s (MIWD) pipeline expansion project from Brgy. Ungka II, Pavia to Brgy. Hibao-an Norte, Mandurriao, Iloilo City on Thursday, December 21, 2017.
A simple ceremony was held in front of Centro Verde subdivision in Brgy. Ungka II, Pavia attended by the officials of MIWD led by the chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Teodoro Robles, its project partner Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corporation (MIBWSC), and other local officials.
For three consecutive years, the Day Care Center of Brgy. Sipitan-Badiang in Guimbal, Iloilo was awarded the Best Early Learning Center – Rural Category in the Gawad Kalasag, thus elevating it to the award-giving body’s Hall of Fame.
On Thursday (December 21, 2017), Barangay Captain Agustin Nepuncio with the Day Care personnel and children went to the office of Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. to present to him the trophies they had won. Gov. Defensor congratulated the group for consistently winning the award.

It was conferred the Plaque of Sustainability “for having exemplified commitment in raising the standards for accountability, transparency, and quality service delivery thereby pursuing the ideals of Excellence in Local Governance.”
Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. released a total of P44,111,815.24 in financial assistance to schools and various barangay projects in the province on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. The financial assistance to schools came from the Provincial School Board (PSB) funds which amounted to P38,083,815.24. The amount went to 96 elementary and secondary schools scattered in 27 municipalities.
