The Iloilo Provincial Nutrition Council - Provincial Nutrition Technical Working Group (PNC-PNTWG) conducted its first quarter meeting on March 11, 2024, at the Casa Real Blue Room to discuss nutrition-sensitive programs and services towards achieving a malnutrition-free province.

Among the topics discussed is the conduct of the 1st Punong Barangay Nutrition Congress to encourage the village leaders to make nutrition programs a priority of their administration and to support the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023-2028.

Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. with Provincial Administrator Raul Banias and Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office head Aulynn Yue Sin warmly welcomed Finnish (Finland) Ambassador to the Philippines Juha Pyykkö during his courtesy visit this afternoon.

Gov. Defensor and Amb. Pyykkö had a lively talk on various topics most especially on renewable energy, economy, digitalization and education.

Amb. Pyykkö is set to meet with investment leaders in the city and province of Iloilo tomorrow.

Recognition For DA-PDRP Team

The Iloilo Provincial Government’s PRDP (Philippine Rural Development Project) team presented to Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. the Certificate of Recognition given by the Department of Agriculture for its remarkable contribution and invaluable commitment to the implementation of Social and Environmental Safeguards of the PRDP during the Social and Environmental Safeguards Forum with Partner LGUs on March 4, 2024, in Cagayan de Oro City.

Iloilo Province is one of the 56 Local Government Units (LGUs) in the country which received the said recognition.

43 LGUs To Receive Laptops To Bolster Employment Facilitation

Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. led, during the flag-raising ceremony today, the ceremonial turnover of laptops to the 43 municipalities and one component city in a move to bolster local employment initiatives through the implementation of programs and services of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
 
These laptops will support the implementation of the Employment Facilitation and Protection System (EFPS), a computerized platform aimed at efficiently managing a database of workforce skills and connecting them with business opportunities.

New Classroom Building For Elementary Pupils In San Dionisio

Principal I Theresa Atanoso of Dugman Elementary School in the municipality of San Dionisio expressed her gratitude to the Iloilo Provincial Government for the construction of a 1-storey 3-classroom building in their school.

From makeshift and dilapidated rooms, the elementary learners can now enjoy standard and quality classrooms following the completion of the project.

To provide consumers with premium meat products, the Iloilo provincial government, through the assistance of the World Bank, is establishing a Double-A abattoir in the municipality of Concepcion located at Sitio Anak Bukid, Barangay Loong.

Women As Permanent Partner In Clean-up Drive

The Iloilo Provincial Government celebrated International Women’s Day through a women-led cleanup drive all over the province on March 8, 2024.

The activity was aimed at advocating for climate change resiliency and water awareness as the province currently experiences dry spells due to El Niño.

The cleanup was spearheaded by the Gender and Development Council and was participated by the Capitol employees, Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) Concepcion Chapter, employees of Concepcion LGU, and national government agencies, among others.

Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor stressed that the problem of power outage “is a matter of national emergency” and should be addressed in the most practical terms.

“We are very concerned because power is one of the fundamentals that the government should deliver to our constituents,” Defensor said.

The governor joined the Panay Energy Stakeholders’ Meeting organized by the Iloilo City Government on March 7, 2024, at the Iloilo City Hall Penthouse.
