ILOILO – Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has ordered to grant P1-million reward to the confidential informant and arresting police team who led the successful operation against high profile criminal Richard Prevendido yesterday.
Pursuant to Executive Order 235, the reward will be taken from the province’s 2017 annual budget as part of its Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan.
The confidential informant who tipped off the operatives of the location of Prevendido will get half of the reward while the other half will go Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) headed by Police Senior Supt. Marlon Tayaba.
Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Iloilo also recognized IPPO and Intelligence Division of Police Regional Office-6 for the successful apprehension and neutralization of the notorious drug lord.
Prevendido and his son, Jason, were killed in a police operation on September 1, 2017 after the two fired upon the arresting team who were trying to serve his warrant of arrest at their home in Landheights Subdivision, Brgy. Balabago, Jaro, Iloilo City.
The notorious leader of “Prevendido Drug Group” has a pending criminal case for illegal possession of drugs, a violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Defensor hailed the police for their very good intelligence work and aggressive manhunt operation and urged the public to continue to support the campaign against illegal drugs and other forms of criminality.
With the community’s cooperation and trust to the police force, Defensor added that the campaign’s success is sealed.
