Barangay officials receive their checks from the Iloilo provincial government as financial assistance for various programs and projects at the Casa Real on Monday, May 15, 2017.
Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. released a total of P14,674,500 as financial assistance for various programs and projects to 13 municipalities covering 174 barangays of the province on Monday, May 15, 2017.
The recipient barangays were from the towns of Oton, Tubungan, Alimodian, Zarraga, Bingawan, Cabatuan, Lambunao, Maasin, Mina, Anilao, Banate, Estancia and San Dionisio.The financial assistance were intended for socio-cultural activities, construction or rehabilitation of streetlights, multi-purpose centers, evacuation centers, Day Care centers and health centers. Some funds were allotted for the construction of footwalk, roads and bridges while others were intended for the purchase of equipment, furniture and fixtures. The barangay officials and some mayors received their respective checks during the distribution ceremony at Casa Real.
Gov. Defensor was absent during the distribution because he attended the turn-over of command for the new Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 director in Camp Delgado but Board Members Nielo Tupas, Manny Gallar, Jeneda Salcedo-Orendain, Renee Valencia, Demy Sonza, Lorenz Defensor, Liecel Seville and Val Serag were there in his behalf. It was learned that the funds came from 20% Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) Fund and Subsidy to Local Government Units (LGU) and Donations for CY 2017.
The amounts received by the recipient barangays vary depending on the project proposals they had submitted to Gov. Defensor.
