The award was given during the 66th Anniversary celebration of the DSWD at the Casa Real in Iloilo City on Monday, February 20, 2017.

PSWDO was awarded with the Gawad sa Makabayang Teknolohiyang Panlipunan for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and the GAPAS Award for being local government unit (LGU) model for the implementation of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Pador attributed the awards to the successful implementation of various social services programs with the full support of Gov. Defensor. With regard to the PWD sector, Pador cited the implementation of scholarship program for PWDs, the distribution of wheelchairs and other assistive devices in partnership with the Latter Day Saints Charities Foundation, and leadership training and livelihood program for PWDs. She also said that the province has appointed a focal person at the Office of Persons with Disability (OPDA) to attend to any PWD concerns.

Pador said her office also helps ensure the successful implementation of DSWD programs by offering technical assistance and helping monitor its implementation. Pador thanked Gov. Defensor, all the PSWDO staff, and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (MSWDOs) for their support in ensuring the successful implementation of social services programs in the province.
