The Physical Fitness and Sports Development Council (PFSDC) of Iloilo province, headed by Dr. Raymundo Lapating, held a general orientation conference yesterday (March 9, 2016) at Casa Real. The activity aims to set the direction for the province’ sports development program as envisioned by Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr.
Sports enthusiasts and key persons from different sports disciplines were invited to the event. Defensor expressed high hopes that the gathering would be the start of the successful and sustainable implementation of sports programs that will benefit the youth in the province.
He noted that sports were sidelined for quite a long time in the province. This is the reason why Defensor called for the first ever Provincial Sports Summit last March 2015 with officials from the Philippine Sports Commission as guests. He then tried to revitalize PFSDC with the task of strengthening the sports development program of the province.
During the activity Lapating emphasized the duties and responsibilities of the PFSDC and as well as the project directors and commissioners. He also laid down the sports roadmap of the province.
Also tackled during the conference were the upcoming 2016 summer sports activities and there was also a briefing about the Junior NBA.
Defensor also administered the oath of office of the key sports officials composed of project directors and sports commissioners. He assured them of full support to all their endeavors and he also expressed appreciation for their help and cooperation in strengthening the sports program in the province.
