ILOILO - The Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force headed by PO3 Charlie Asturias has filed criminal charges against ten individuals who were using improvised dynamites to catch fish off the coast of Concepcion and Carles.

ILOILO - Twelve of groups of illegal fishers have been arrested by the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force off the coast of Concepcion here this week. Reports from PO3 Charlie Asturias said that these fishermen were caught using fine mesh nets and active gears within the municipal waters of Concepcion, a direct violation of Sections 86 and 90 of Republic Act 8550, respectively.
ILOILO — The owners and crews of 29 fishing boats here were slapped with sanctions and complaints for using trawl within the municipal waters of San Dionisio, Concepcion, Carles, Estancia and Barotac Viejo earlier this month. Using trawl to catch fish is prohibited 15 kilometers from the coastline of any municipality in the country as provided in Section 90 of Republic Act 8550 or the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998.
ILOILO - Twenty five farmers from different barangays in the poor town of Badiangan were taught of principles and strategies used by South Koreans in the early ‘70s to transform their war-torn country into an economic power house now. The successful rural modernization campaign known as Saemaul Undong (SMU) or New Community Movement was introduced to these organic farmers during the SMU Leadership Training held in Badiangan Central Elementary School on Wednesday (July 1, 2015).
ILOILO - Twenty-two fishermen from Concepcion and Estancia were made to pay P52,000 in fines for violating the town’s ordinance on June.
These fishermen were caught engaging in shrimp trawl and ring net fishing without permit, according to a report from Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force. They were on-board the motorboats Jickhomae 2 and 3, Karen, Art Jester, Nicol, Angel Gospel, Angelo, Jet-Jet, Junross 4 and 2, Jiuaih and fishing vessel Meber.
The owners offered and paid a compromise fine of P2,500 each for shrimp trawl and P25,000 for ring net fishing.
ILOILO – The municipal government of Concepcion collected a total of P90,000 fines from 36 fishermen who dared to operate without permits earlier this week. PO3 Charlie Asturias of the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force reported on Tuesday that the fishermen were caught using squid trawl and cast net.
ILOILO – The Provincial Agriculture’s Office here will be raising one hundred pure breed inland-born Anglo-Nubian goats for future livelihood assistance to marginal farmers in Western Visayas.
ILOILO – The people of the provinces surrounding the Visayan Sea triangle are seeking for the declaration of Visayan Sea as a National Marine Reserve of the Philippines during the 7th Visayan Sea Summit held recently (June 5) at the School of the Sea in Barangay Ocoy, Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu.
ILOILO – In just five months, the criminal charges filed against illegal fishers here nearly doubled compared to last year’s accomplishment of Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force. The task force reported that the number of cases filed in court increased from 13 in 2014 to 24 as of May 31, 2015.
ILOILO – The provincial government here is reiterating its call to all the chief executives and agencies concerned to be active in clearing the Visayan Sea of illegal fishers.
