loilo province again received the highest recognition in the Excellence in Local Governance (EXCELL) Awards of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office 6. It was conferred the Plaque of Sustainability “for having exemplified commitment in raising the standards for accountability, transparency, and quality service delivery thereby pursuing the ideals of Excellence in Local Governance.”

The Provincial Treasury and Assessment offices of Iloilo province bagged the major awards in the 4th Quarter Conference-Workshop and Year-End General Assembly of the Regional Association of Treasurers and Assessors in Region VI (Regata VI) in collaboration with the Bureau of Local Government Finance Regional Office VI (BLGF VI) held at Sampaguita Gardens, New Washington, Aklan last December 6, 2017.
The awarding ceremony, which gave recognition to local government units (LGU) and key players in the implementation of nutrition programs, was held on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the Casa Real de Iloilo.
Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr., who chairs the PNC, led the giving of plaques, certificates and cash incentives to the lucky awardees.
The municipality of Concepcion and the City of Passi won first runner up and second runner up, respectively.
Acting DILG chief Catalino Cuy, in a letter to Gov. Arthur Defensor dated October 30, said that the Province of Iloilo has "met the upgraded criteria for 2017" of the Seal Good Local Governance (SGLG).
This is the third SGLG of the Province of Iloilo, having won its first in 2015 and its second in 2016.
The Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PFRD), Inc. has conferred on Iloilo Province the 2017 Apolinario Mabini Award for the Local Government.
Lourdes Dela Llana Pimentel, chairperson of the 2017 Apolinario Mabini Awards, in a letter sent to Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr., said the province has “qualified with the standards of a Local Government Unit that has rendered exceptional services to the mass of citizens with disabilities within its jurisdiction in the last two years.”
The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Iloilo Province was chosen as Grand Winner in the Regional Search for Best PESO - First Class Province Category conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
