Arthur Defensor, Sr. unveil the marker of the Iloilo Negosyo Center which was launched on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Casa Real de Iloilo in the presence of (from left) Dept. of Trade and Industry regional director Engr. Wilhelm Malones, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, Dept. of Interior and Local Government asst. regional director Margie Biligan, and LGSP-LED field director Francis Gentoral. THE BEE TEAM. Students from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand came to Iloilo to introduce an initiative to cultivate native bee hives for organic honey which will be implemented in Barangay Tarong in Carles, one of the hard-hit villages by Typhoon Yolanda. The team won the UC 21 Day International Challenge which gave competing groups 21 days to develop a practical and unique solution to help improve the socio-economic well-being of the people of Tarong. DOST Gives Out Packaging, Labeling Assistance

ILOILO – Fifty-one small business entrepreneurs here have been provided with the skills and knowledge to improve the aesthetic value and salability of their native products in the market. Packaging and labeling assistance was part of the Packaging Technology Assistance Program (PTAP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), according to Development Management Officer VI Velma Jane Lao of the Provincial Planning and Development Office.

ILOILO – A group of businessmen from Bangladesh are set to visit the city and province of Iloilo on January 19 to explore possible ties and business ventures, according to Bangladesh Ambassador to the Philippines John Gomes. “We have a business delegation coming, very high-powered business delegation. They will explore the possibility of having trade relations with Iloilo since I heard that economically, it is doing very good,” announced Gomes during his courtesy visit to Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. on Thursday (January 8).
