Gov Meets PWD Scholars

Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. meets with the provincial government's ten PWD (persons with disabilities) scholars on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015. A program of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Dr. Neneth Pador, the PWD scholars are entitled to financial assistance of P28,000 each academic year.

Metrobank Names 2 Outstanding Ilongga Teachers

ILOILO — Out of 467 teachers who participated in the nationwide 2015 Search for Outstanding Teachers of Metrobank Foundation, two Ilonggos made it to the top ten. Joining the rank of 336 teachers the foundation honored since 1985 were Rejie F. Palmos of West Visayas State University-Integrated Laboratory School and Dr. Myrna Libutaque of Philippine Science High School-Western Visayas Campus.

Iloilo sponsors 10 PWD scholars

ILOILO – True to its mission to help the poor and marginalized, ten persons with disabilities (PWDs) were provided with scholarship here by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office. The scholars were the pioneer batch of the provincial government’s special scholarship program for PWDs as mandated by 2013 Persons with Disability Ordinance authored by Provincial Board Member June Mondejar.

Guv Releases P12M to Repair Schools

ILOILO – Public schools that have been destroyed by typhoons in the past could continue the reconstruction, repair and improvement of their facilities with P12.3-million budget released on Monday. Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. released the fund in check to repair 45 elementary schools (P7.2-million) and seven secondary schools (P1.4-million) in five congressional districts here.

Capitol to Grant More Scholarship

ILOILO – The provincial government here will be accepting more scholars for the upcoming school year 2015-2016 to help poor yet deserving students earn a degree in college. Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has ordered that the number of scholars be increased from seven to ten per district making it 50 in total.

11 Provincial Government Scholars Get Top Honors

Seven graduates will receive cum laude honors while four graduates will receive magna cum laude honors.
 
The Iloilo provincial government will give cash incentives to 18 “Iskolar sang Iloilo” graduates in appreciation of their achievements. Magna cum laude graduates will be given P5,000 each while cum laude graduates will receive P3,000 each. Graduates without honors, on the other hand, will receive P1,000 each.
 

USAID Director in Iloilo for EdGE Project

Hugpong sa Pagbangon is a project undertaken by Synergeia Foundation under the Education Governance Effectiveness (EdGE) of USAID – a five-year project (2013-2018) that seeks to improve education governance through decentralization.
 
It will specifically provide post-disaster education recovery assistance to public elementary schools in 19 select local government units (LGUs) in the Visayas that were severely affected by Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.
