Twelve hospitals run by the Iloilo provincial government could already hire additional personnel to further improve their services. This after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved Supplemental Budget No. 2-A requested by Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. amounting to P262 million last Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Of the total amount, P66 million was allotted for the hiring of 590 personnel, such as nurses, doctors, X-ray technicians, etc., to address the personnel gap of the 12 hospitals.
Residents of three upland barangays in Passi City, Iloilo – Alimono, Jaquimitan and Magdungao – will soon have easy access to potable water. Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. allotted P1.1 million for the construction of a potable water system in the area.

The 12 hospitals run by the Iloilo provincial government have brighter days ahead. Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, who is also chief of the Hospital Management Office (HMO), said Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. has already given the green light for the hiring of additional medical personnel and upgrading of the bed capacity of the hospitals this year.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. asked the mayors of 42 municipalities and one component city in the province to help the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in its campaign for voluntary blood donation.
Defensor made the appeal after learning that the PRC has a limited supply of blood units in its blood bank due to lack of blood donors. Dr. Dennis Roy Pasadilla of the PRC-Iloilo Chapter, who appeared before the meeting of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Iloilo Chapter at the Capitol on Tuesday (January 12) revealed that the province of Iloilo registered only 4,395 blood donors in 2015 which is way below their target of 19,441 blood donors

ILOILO — As lead implementers, employees of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol have been instructed to segregate their waste in compliance to Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. Mandated by Governor Arthur Defensor Sr., a memorandum order has been issued requiring all employees to practice solid waste management by adopting the Trash in a Bottle: An Alternative Recycling Technology on Plastics (ART on Plastics) starting this month.
The Municipality of New Lucena is adjudged as this year's most nutritionally improved town with only 2.08% malnutrition prevalence rate out of 43 local government units in Iloilo. The officials of the rural health unit received the award during the culminating ceremony for Nutrition Month held in Iloilo Provincial Capitol on July 27.
