ILOILO - To help improve the quality of healthcare in this typhoon-stricken province, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office is donating 17 ambulances, among which are for the three district hospitals. The new ambulances will benefit patients from Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay, Dr. Ricardo Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Lambunao and Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian.

ILOILO – Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC), in partnership with Hospital Management Office, will be holding a medical and dental mission in Barangay Nipa, Concepcion town this coming June 19. Dubbed as “PCPC Cooperation Alliance on Restorative Efforts and Sustenance for Health (CARES) for Health”, the project aims to provide quality and sustainable healthcare programs and services to the people of Concepcion where the 135-megawatt coal-fired power plant operates.
ILOILO – Ninety representatives of community-based small water service providers (CBWSP) will gather here for two days to look for long-term solutions to perennial problem of the province – lack of reliable water supply. The 1St Iloilo Water Summit, which opened today (May 26) in Eon Centennial Hotel, revolved on the theme “Tubig Kabuhi, Amligan, Tipigan para sa Tayoyun nga Kauswagan” (Water is Life, Protect, Conserve for Sustainable Development).
ILOILO – The Iloilo Sanitation Code (ISC), the first in Western Visayas, has gained the approval of Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. and will soon be implemented in 43 local government units here. The Provincial Ordinance No. 2015-120 or the Sanitation Code of the Province of Iloilo was sponsored by Board Member Carmen Rita Bautista and co-sponsored by Board Member June Mondejar. It was signed into law by the governor on Tuesday.
ILOILO – In recognition of their efficient delivery of childcare services, the provincial government of Iloilo named the top performing rural health units here in a ceremony held at Regatta Residence Hotel in Iloilo City on Wednesday (April 22). Organized by the Provincial Health Office, the awards were meant for health units which excelled in the implementation of Integrated Management of Childhood Illness, Oral Health Care and Expanded Program on Immunization (e.g. measles rubella, oral polio vaccines, fully-immunized children).
ILOILO –The Philippine Red Cross-Iloilo Chapter, with the support of Korean Red Cross, will help in the upgrading and expansion of a birthing clinic located in Carles town here. Based on the letter of Chapter Administrator Gilbert Paul Valderrama, PRC-Iloilo will construct an annex building to the existing birthing clinic to increase its bed capacity. The annex building, which has a floor area of 385 square meters, is expected to accomodate additional eight birthing patients.
ILOILO – As they continue to solidify their friendship with Philippines, the government of South Korea, through the Korea International Cooperation Agency, is now starting the expansion and development of three remote hospitals here. “This may not be a huge project in terms of money but it is a noble project and I am proud that Korea is part of it,” said Korean Ambassador Lee Hyuk, who led the groundbreaking ceremonies of Iloilo Geographically Isolated and Disadvantage Area Health System Strengthening Project held in Aleosan District Hospital on Monday.
