DOST Gives Out Packaging, Labeling Assistance

ILOILO – Fifty-one small business entrepreneurs here have been provided with the skills and knowledge to improve the aesthetic value and salability of their native products in the market. Packaging and labeling assistance was part of the Packaging Technology Assistance Program (PTAP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), according to Development Management Officer VI Velma Jane Lao of the Provincial Planning and Development Office.

World Bank to Help Concrete 24 Road Sections in Iloilo

The establishment of reliable and safe road in these areas will cost around Php1.88 billion or P13-million per kilometer, according to the estimate of the Provincial Engineer’s Office.
 
The project is expected to be implemented this year under World Bank’s Support for Strategic Local Development and Investment Project for Philippines (SSLDIP).
 
SSCDIP provides any local government unit the access to viable financing that will help them implement strategic infrastructure investments.
 

P264M Farm-to-Market Road up for Bidding

The bidding process will finally commence after the provincial government received the letter of no objection from World Bank. The 28-kilometer Imbang Grande-Tagubong-Gemumua Agahon-
Agtabo farm-to-market road in Passi City will be paved using a P264-million budget.
 
The road development is one of Department of Agriculture’s priority projects under the Philippine Rural Development Project this 2015.
 

EMB Grants ECC for WB’s P262 Road Project in Iloilo

The project which is funded by the World Bank under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) of the Department of Agriculture will cover the 28-kilometer Imbang Grande-Tagubong-Gemumua Agahon-Agtabo farm-to-market road – the longest in the Visayas. 
 
PRDP is a six-year World Bank funded program (2013-2018) designed to establish an inclusive, market-oriented and climate resilient agriculture and fisheries sector through strategic investments in priority commodity value chains.
 

Guv vows to resolve IPs demands

ILOILO – In support to impending implementation of Jalaur River Multipurpose Project – Phase II, Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. committed to address the social projects that the indigenous people of Calinog were demanding from the government. The governor initiated a dialogue with the IPs on Tuesday as part of the ongoing negotiation to gain the IPs to free, prior and informed consent, an important requirement for the construction of the multi-billion mega dam. “Without doubt, we will find a way to make the projects you wish for come true. For as long as it is reasonable and direly needed, we will make it possible. But if it is not, I have to say ‘sorry’ and make it clear to you as early as now,” Defensor told the IPs from 16 barangays affected JRMP II.
