Officials of state-owned CCC Highway Consultants of China make a courtesy call at the Governor's office on Wednesday (September 6, 2017) with Provincial Administrator Raul Banias (right) welcoming them. The group is in Iloilo to conduct a pre-feasibility study on the proposed bridge that would link Iloilo and Guimaras provinces. CCC Highway Consultants is a prestigious company that has built hundreds of major bridges and highways in China and in other parts of Asia, among which the recently completed 29.6 km. Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao link project and the 36 km. Hangzhou Bay Bridge.
“The unabated extraction of sand and gravel along these river systems have resulted to the damage and deterioration of the structural integrity of bridges, irrigation dams, and other public and private infrastructures as reported by the monitoring team of National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) VI…” part of the order reads. The river systems referred to in the order are: Aganan, Jalaur, Sibalom, Suage and Ulian river systems.
A Memorandum of Agreement was signed on Friday (August 18, 2017) among the Iloilo Provincial Government, Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC) and Iloilo Economic Development Foundation (IEDF) on the proposed Iloilo Economic Zone Development Project during the first anniversary of commercial operation of PCPC at its plant site in Brgy. The Iloilo provincial government has made official its intention to donate a property in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo as the future site of the regional offices of the Department of Health and PhilHealth.

The hanging bridge which traverses Uya-oy River has a total length of 87 linear meters.
It has a total project cost of P1.5 million; P1.2 million of the fund was provided by Gov. Defensor while the rest came from the local government unit (LGU) of Miag-ao.
