ILOILO – “While we believe that we are winning the war against illegal drugs, victory has yet to come. There are so many things to do. Our problem with illegal drugs remains humongous.”

This was the concern Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. raised during his speech before the law enforces who gathered to celebrate the 14th foundation anniversary of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Casa Real de Iloilo on June 15.

ILOILO — Reelected Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. thanked his supporters on Tuesday for giving him the mandate to continue the reforms he has started in the next three years.

“Thank you for your trust and confidence in me. I am hopeful that in my last term as your governor, you will help me fulfill the dreams and aspirations we both share for Iloilo,” Defensor said in mix Hiligaynon and English.

Defensor Suspends Capitol Salary Hike

Governor Arthur Defensor said he is suspending the implementation of the salary increase of provincial government employees as prescribed by Executive Order No. 201 issued by President Aquino because he finds it unfair. He said that after the May 9, 2016 elections, he will ask the new President to review the modified salary schedule because it gave huge increases to those who are already receiving high salaries while those with low salaries received minimum increase.
