ILOILO – Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. is again recognized as the “champion of the environment” following the success of his flagship program that aims to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change in this agricultural province.
Outgoing Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Ramon Paje recognized Defensor anew as recipient of Kalikasan Award due to his “dauntless commitment to champion environmental governance, protection and rehabilitation thru his Action for Regreening and Transformation for Climate Change Adaptation (ART for CCA) Program”.
Representative Oscar Richard Garin takes his oath of office as second-termer congressman of the First District of Iloilo from the barangay captains of 17 villages in the First District where he got 100 percent votes last May 9, 2016 election. Holding the bible is his daughter Rica Jane. Garin promised to bring more projects to help alleviate the lives of the poor in his district.

ILOILO – “While we believe that we are winning the war against illegal drugs, victory has yet to come. There are so many things to do. Our problem with illegal drugs remains humongous.”
This was the concern Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. raised during his speech before the law enforces who gathered to celebrate the 14th foundation anniversary of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Casa Real de Iloilo on June 15.
