Iloilo’s Bantay Dagat Task Force

The Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force (IPBDTF) received another commendation for their successful implementation of anti-illegal fishing campaign, this time from the environmental movement Pasalamat sa Katauhan with endorsement from the United Nations (UN) – Environment. The commendation was presented to them by environmental lawyer Antonio Oposa, Jr. last Saturday, July 22, 2017, during the Visayan Sea Governors Meeting in Sicogon Island, Carles, Iloilo.

Municipal mayors raise some issues and concerns with Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 regional director Chief Supt. Jose Gentiles during the meeting of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) - Iloilo Chapter at the Capitol boardroom on Friday, April 28, 2017. The meeting called by LMP-Iloilo president Mayor Jett Rojas of Ajuy also tackled the operation of Small Town Lottery (STL) in the province and the issues regarding open dumpsite in the municipalities. Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. also joined the meeting.

Equipment for IPPO's SWAT

Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. turns over 18 sets of equipment for the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) consisting of bullet proof vests, ballistic shields and Kevlar helmets to IPPO director Senior Supt. Harold Tuzon (left) on Thursday, April 6, 2017. The equipment were procured through competitive bidding from the budget of the Provincial Peace and Order Council. Provincial Administrator Raul Banias said the council is also considering the request for additional equipment including a sniper rifle.

Law enforcers from the 42 municipalities and one component city of Iloilo province who are members of Road Safety Task Force and Task Force Anti-Overloading attend the two-day Deputation seminar conducted by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) starting on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Casa Real. Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. asked the help of various stakeholders to ensure the proper implementation of the province' road safety program as well as anti-overloading ordinance.

Guv brings Yuletide joy to prisoners

Christmas spirit filled the Iloilo District Jail (IDJ) in Brgy. Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo on Sunday, December 18, 2016, as Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. held his traditional gift-giving to the prisoners. Around 1,800 inmates of the IDJ, now under the management and supervision of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), received gift packs from Gov. Defensor as his way of celebrating his birthday this coming December 25, Christmas Day.
