Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. (center) with some recipients of the wheelchairs donated by the Church of the Latter Day Saints (LDS) Charities Foundation on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Capitol lobby. Sixty two recipients availed of the customized wheelchairs during the third batch of distribution. It was learned that LDS has committed 600 wheelchairs for the persons with disabilities in the province of Iloilo through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office. Mr. Kenneth Lee (Gov. ILOILO – The three-day medical, surgical and dental mission of the provincial government helped 1, 277 poor Ilonggos in far-flung areas in Pototan and Carles on May. The mission dubbed as Project Buligay sa Barangay was brought by Vice Governor Raul Tupas and Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. in Pototan Astrodome on May 27 and in Abong Elementary School and Gigantes Island, Carles on May 28 and 31.
ILOILO – After the project is proven effective, Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has decided to establish a school-based multipurpose teen center in a massive scale this year. The governor has approved the release of P6.5-million for the creation of new teen centers in 21 public schools, including those that are in the island-barangays.
ILOILO – Seventy-nine percent of the 335 fishermen who lost their livelihood after Super Typhoon Yolanda have been paid for the labor they provided in building their motorboats.These fishermen from Ajuy (35), Anilao (15), Banate (35), Barotac Viejo (30), Carles (100), Estancia (30) and San Dionisio (20) were beneficiaries of Adopt-A-Fisherman Program.
