Around 250 coaches and trainers attended the two-day Advanced Training and Accreditation for top priority sports conducted by the Iloilo Sports Development and Management Office (ISDMO) through the Center for Sports and Physical Fitness (CSPF) which started on Friday, September 22, 2017. The training conducted at the Iloilo National High School (INHS) centered on top priority sports, namely, athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, swimming, tennis and volleyball.

Seventeen-year old Losañes broke the record in Javelin throw (700 grams) in the 2017 ASEAN School Games, also known as Youth SEA Games, held in Singapore last July 13-22, 2017. Losañes, who hails from Binuluangan, Carles, registered 66.60 meters breaking the event’s standing record which is 62.38 meters. As such, Losañes grabbed the gold medal in the competition.
The 97 medalists from Iloilo in the recent Palarong Pambansa 2017 held in the Province of Antique last April 23-29, 2017 will receive cash incentives this coming June 20, 2017.
Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. said the cash incentives will come from the funds of the Provincial School Board (PSB).
The giving of cash incentives to medalists was institutionalized by virtue of an ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. It was devised to motivate the athletes and recognize them for giving honor to the province.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. released a total of P25.4 million for various school projects in the province on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. The fund that went to 60 schools and 26 municipalities came from the Provincial School Board (PSB) chaired by the governor himself.
