Over 1,500 kilograms of locally-grown onions from Miagao are now moving - and it took a whole team to make it happen.
On April 28, 2026, the Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office, Office of the Provincial LEDIP Officer - Iloilo, DA Western Visayas (RFO6), the Municipal LGU of Miagao, and a representative of Onion Growers of Miagao convened to address the marketing challenges faced by Miagao's onion bulb growers.
The result: a coordinated effort that successfully moved π,πππ π€π π¨π π¨π§π’π¨π§π¬ to consumers through drop-off areas at the Capitol Grounds.
Here's how each agency is stepping up:
π DA RFO6 β Provided free hauling trucks to transport onions to drop-off areas.
πΏPAGRO β Included Miagao onions into KADIWA markets and is exploring other market channels, capitol grounds as drop off point, alongside ongoing technical assistance to lower production costs.
π€LEDIPO β Actively linking farmers to business organizations and producing promotional materials to expand market reach. π¦ LGU Miagao β Managing inventory and established a dedicated Facebook page for orders.
Moving forward, the agencies have committed to continuous technical assistance, postharvest interventions, capacity development, and strengthened farmer associations β all aimed at lowering production costs and securing stable market linkages for Miagao's onion growers.
