The Iloilo Provincial Government’s flag-raising ceremony this morning was marked by the presentation of various awards and recognitions to the province and the local government of Janiuay.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Kalahi-CIDSS program, conferred a Certificate of Recognition on Barangay Carigangan, Janiuay, Iloilo for its exemplary commitment to sustaining the operation and management of a community sub-project for nearly 12 years. Barangay officials of Carigangan led by Punong Barangay Romeo Apistar together with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer of Janiuay received the award.
The same citation was also awarded to the Municipality of Janiuay, while the Province of Iloilo was once again recognized as the country’s first province to institutionalize Community-Driven Development (CDD).
In addition, the Rafael M. Salas Kaunlarang Pantao Award, received by the province in Manila last week, was formally presented. Iloilo was named Most Outstanding Local Government Unit in Localizing the Population and Development (PopDev) Agenda by the Commission on Population and Development.
The province likewise received the SubayBAYANI Award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its transparent and efficient implementation of national government-funded infrastructure projects.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office also presented the award for Balay Pagbag-o, which advances Bahay Pag-asa standards of care -- a milestone reflecting the province’s dedication to uplifting the lives of children in conflict with the law. This award was conferred during the culminating event of the 14th Juvenile Justice and Welfare Consciousness Week on November 28, 2025, in Quezon City.
With Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. in Manila on official business, Vice Governor Nathalie Ann Debuque and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias led the presentation of awards.
