Social Welfare Officer IV Ann Rapunzel Ganzon of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office received the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award, the highest award given to public servants by the Civil Service Commission.
Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. conferred the award to Ganzon during the Awards Rites for the 2024 Outstanding Government Workers in Malacañan Palace on September 18, 2024.
The president was assisted by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, CSC Chairperson Atty. Karlo Alexie Nograles, Commissioner Atty. Aileen Lourdes Lizada, and Commissioner Atty. Ryan Alvin Acosta during the conferment ceremony.
Ganzon was recognized for uplifting the lives of persons with disabilities in the province of Iloilo; and leading projects, innovations, and initiatives that empower and uphold the health and wellness, rights, and privileges of PWDs, thereby enabling them to live more fulfilling lives.
She was accompanied by Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. her father and Iloilo City Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon in receiving the recognition.
She likewise received a gold-gilded medallion crafted and sponsored by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, a Presidential Plaque, and a P200,000 cash reward.
Ganzon is also entitled to an automatic promotion to the next higher position.
The Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award is the highest award given to public servants for their exceptional or extraordinary contributions that have a nationwide impact on public interest, security and patrimony.
The social welfare officer is among the 28 individuals and groups that received recognition from President Marcos. The other awardees are recipients of the Outstanding Public Officials and Employees (Dangal ng Bayan) Award and CSC Pagasa Award.
President Marcos lauded the awardees for contributing to the efficiency of the economy and the improvement of government operations and provisions of service.
“You serve as the pillars upon which our government can draw its confidence and build its momentum in achieving a Bagong Pilipinas. Let us remember that the impact of our work does not lie in the recognition that we receive or the laurels that we are given. It lies in the hearts that we have touched, the communities that we have reached, and the lives that we have changed. After all, government work is about making our people, our country, and our world better than when we found it,” he said.
The ceremony marked the culmination of the 124th Philippine Civil Service Commission Service Anniversary celebrated every September. (Capitol News)
