During the 50th Regular Session of the 15th Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Iloilo held at the Session Hall of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, Iloilo City, the Provincial Board officially approved Provincial Ordinance No. 2026-05-22, formally declaring the Municipality of Pavia, particularly Barangay Anilao, as the “Sorbete Capital of Iloilo.”
Strengthening peace and security across Western Visayas took center stage during the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) VI meeting on Tuesday, where government agencies reviewed the region's security landscape and reinforced coordinated efforts against emerging threats and illegal drugs.
Presided over by Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., the council's meeting brought together key national government agencies to present updates on national security concerns.
Atty. Deo Virgil Tan, National Telecommunications Commission VI Legal Officer reminded the barangay information officers to be mindful when sharing information online and to safeguard their personal data against scammers.
“Verify and confirm first before giving out information. It is important that we protect not only our data but those of our friends and relatives,” Tan emphasized during the Cybersecurity Awareness Training for Barangay Information Officers today at District 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
