Officials from the Municipal Government of Daraga, Albay visited the Iloilo Provincial Government this morning for a Benchmarking and Learning Exchange Visit.

The delegation was led by Mayor Hon. Victor U. Perez and Vice Mayor Hon. Fleur Jazel Ruiz, together with members of the Sangguniang Bayan and municipal department heads. The visit aimed to learn from the province’s best practices, particularly in renewable energy and tourism.

On behalf of Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., Acting Provincial Planning and Development Office Head Mary Rose Matucan welcomed the delegation.

The Public-Private Partnership Center of the Philippines (PPPCP) briefed the Iloilo Provincial Government on major reforms under the PPP Code.

PPPCP Executive Director Rizza Blanco-Latorre presented the briefing to Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. and provincial office chiefs, outlining the scope and coverage of public-private partnerships in the Philippines and providing updates on projects under implementation and in the pipeline at both the national and local levels.

Hon. Lily V. Biton, Executive Justice of the Court of Appeals, paid a courtesy visit at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol this morning.

Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr. warmly welcomed Justice Biton, who was accompanied by Badiangan Mayor Suzette A. Mamon, president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines Iloilo Chapter.

During the visit, Justice Biton also presented the governor with a copy of her book.

The Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) presented a proposed Smart Agriculture Development Framework for Western Visayas to the Iloilo Provincial Government's Agriculture Cluster, aimed at boosting production of high-value crops through smart agriculture technology.

The framework, backed by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF), outlines a system integrating grain and rice production, poultry raising, orchards, greenhouse vegetable farming and aquaculture.

The “Data Naton, Istorya Naton” initiative of the Federation of Iloilo Provincial Service Point Officers (FIPSPO) Inc. officially received its recognition as the First Place winner in the POPDEV Category of the 2026 Rafael M. Salas Kaunlarang Pantao Award (RMSKPA) Regional level.

The recognition was conferred by the Commission on Population and Development VI during the awarding ceremony today at Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, Iloilo City.

After placing in the Top 10 last year, Passi City emerged as the Champion of this year's Health Excellence and Leadership (HEAL) Awards held at Grand Xing Imperial Hotel today.

Passi City Mayor Stephen Palmares said the award is the result of teamwork among the local government, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, and the City Health Office. He stressed that working together is not only about winning awards but, more importantly, about giving better health services to the people.

The Iloilo Provincial Government released P1.350 million for a farm-to-market road opening project in Barangay Caguyuman, Dingle.

Assistant Provincial Administrator Juanito Acanto Jr. and Acting Provincial Agriculturist Geron Magbanua turned over the check to Punong Barangay Roselo Facinal and Barangay Treasurer Arjelyn Dable on Thursday.

Facinal thanked the provincial government for addressing a long-standing issue in their community. Located three kilometers from the town proper, Caguyuman said their residents have been struggling with poor road condition.

In response to the request of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), the Provincial Cooperatives Development Office Iloilo, thru the Iloilo Technology and Livelihood Development Center (ITLDC), conducted a coordination meeting for the upcoming livelihood training intended for the children in conflict with the law (CICL) under the provincial government’s “Balay Pagbag-o.”

The meeting focused on finalizing the training program, identifying a suitable livelihood enterprise, and coordinating the necessary preparations for its implementation this August.

In line with the observance of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the Provincial Council Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (PCAT-VAWC) conducted its pilot Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Wednesday in the Municipality of Oton, gathering frontline responders and partner agencies to strengthen local efforts against human trafficking and violence against women and children (VAWC).
