Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. will share the province's experience in updating its Schedule of Market Values (SMV) and the measures adopted to cushion the impact of the updated valuations during the National Executive Forum on the implementation of Republic Act No. 12001, or the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act (RPVARA).
Defensor confirmed his attendance at the July 9, 2026 forum at SMX Aura in Taguig City after receiving a personal invitation from Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) Executive Director Consolacion Agcaoili, who paid a courtesy call today together with BLGF Acting Director for Administrative, Financial and Management Service Grace Louie Boongaling and BLGF VI Regional Director Marie Rhodora Gascon.
The governor was invited to present Iloilo's experience as a pilot local government unit under the Local Governance Reform Project (LGRP) and one of the first provinces to complete the updating of its SMV in compliance with the RPVARA mandate.
Through its pioneering efforts, Iloilo has become a model for reforms that promote equitable taxation, stronger local revenues, and improved public services.
