The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) led by its executive director Mr. Florian Gottein paid a courtesy visit on Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 to share the initiatives of the ECCP Iloilo Branch.
Mr. Gottein was accompanied by ECCP Iloilo Branch Officer Ms. Angelluz Aguirre; ECCP Cebu Branch Officer Jillian Sitchon; Trends & Concepts CEO Jose Bantiling; and Valerie Flores of Apple One Properties.
ECCP is expanding its reach in Western Visayas to promote the region as a ground for investment opportunities. Governor Defensor proposed a forum with the ECCP where the province can present its economic opportunities for direct investment. The governor floated the idea of a potential investment for solid waste management which remains a very serious problem in the province. Defensor also vowed to help the ECCP find location for its Iloilo Branch Office.
ECCP is a bilateral foreign chamber that promotes European interests in the Philippines and vice versa. It offers strong business networks that hold great potential in translating tangible business opportunities.

Meanwhile, Gottein congratulated the re-elected governor for its landslide victory in the 2022 elections. Based on the partial and unofficial results released by the Commission on Elections as of May 10, Defensor garnered an overwhelming votes of 891,206 against the 25,897 votes of his opponent.
