The Iloilo-Guimaras Government Information Officers Association (IGIOA) convened for its third quarter meeting to strengthen coordination and enhance information dissemination from the grassroots level.
The meeting, spearheaded by PIA Iloilo on September 24, 2025 was hosted by the Municipality of Tigbauan. Mayor Virgilio Teruel warmly welcomed the LGU-based information officers and recognized their crucial role in disseminating relevant information especially during disasters and calamities.
Part of the meeting is an orientation on the West Philippine Sea by the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) VI to equip information officers with accurate knowledge on the country's maritime sovereignty. NICA also sought the assistance of government communicators in disseminating accurate information regarding our legal rights over the West Philippine Sea.
Sangguniang Bayan Member Adrian Camposagrado also shared the town’s Best Practices on Local Legislative and Administration which earned them the championship trophy in the 2024 Search for the Most Outstanding Sanggunian in the Province of Iloilo.
The Sanggunian sa Eskwelahan or Legislative Education is designed to increase the knowledge of students on the different branches of government and promote awareness and appreciation on the functions and responsibilities of the local sanggunian.
In the afternoon, the LGU-based information officers were treated to a learning visit on the different cultural and historical sites of Tigbauan such as the St. John of Sahagun Parish Church, The Ambush Monument, Panay Landing Memorial, Azucarera Ruins of Namocon, and the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center.
The municipality of Tigbauan is one of the landing sites of the Japanese forces during the World War II in 1942.
