ILOILO TO JOIN FOR THE 2ND TIME IN THE INDEPENDENCE DAY EVENTS IN MANILA

The Province of Iloilo will be participating for the second time in the Independence Day commemorative events at Rizal Park, Metro Manila on June 12, 2025.

The Cry of Santa Barbara will still be Iloilo's entry to the Parada ng Kalayaan Float Competition while Tultugan Festival will represent the province in the Performance Competition, with both events being the highlight of the 127th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

Representatives from the Iloilo provincial government met with Mayor Francis Amboy of Maasin on March 7 relative to the participation of Tultugan Festival.

The float competition is participated by local government units and agencies that have significant historical events leading to the establishment of Philippine nationhood. The performance competition highlights the local festivals that reflect the unique identity of LGUs.

The Cry of Santa Barbara which occurred on November 17, 1898, marked the formal inauguration of the Federal State of the Visayas, with Roque Lopez as president and General Martin Delgado as the general-in-chief of the army.

Iloilo is defending its crown, having been declared as the grand champion during the 126th Philippine Independence Day float competition last year.
