The Iloilo Provincial Hospital is now a Level II facility, the first province-run hospital in Iloilo to achieve such accreditation from the Department of Health.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, third district Cong. Lorenz Defensor, Uswag Ilonggo Partylist Rep. Jojo Ang, Mayor Rafael Enrique Lazaro, Board Member Ramon Sullano, Iloilo Provincial Hospital Chief Dr. Alberto Cordero, and Department of Health Assistant Regional Director Dr. Maria Sophia Pulmones, among others, led the unveiling of the marker on December 14, 2023, at the health facility in Pototan.
Dr. Cordero said that from a Level I facility that only offers consulting services, the IPH is now a departmentalized hospital.
“It means we have 24/7 major departments to operate that are manned by competent doctors who are trained in their respective speciality programs,” he said.
These departments include the Department of Surgery/Orthopedics, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Obstetrics Gynecology, Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Anesthesia, Department of Radiology, and Outpatient Department (OPD).
The provincial hospital also boasts of its adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU); Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU); Level III Clinical Laboratory; Respiratory Units; Radiology Department with Mobile X-ray; CT Scan, 2D Echo (adult and pedia), and Laparoscopy Machine.
It also has a COVID-19 molecular laboratory; a five-room isolation ward with negative pressure; a high-risk pregnancy unit (HRPU); laparoscopic surgery machine (minimally invasive); CT scan equipment; and a 75KW solar photovoltaic (PV) rooftop system.
Cordero said that as a Level II hospital, they are committed to providing accessible advanced services that promote compassionate care, wellness, healing, and improved quality of life.
Dr. Banias said upgrading the Iloilo Provincial Hospital is a testament to the hard work and relentless pursuit of excellence of the hospital staff led by Dr. Cordero.
The Iloilo Provincial Government manages the Iloilo Provincial Hospital and operates on a 175-bed capacity, with an occupancy rate of 88.54 per cent.
Its catchment areas are lI municipalities of Dingle, Duenas, Leganes, Mina, New Lucena, Pototan, and Zarraga.
Meanwhile, Cong. Defensor and Cong. Ang committed to providing P100 million to the Iloilo Provincial Hospital intended for its medical assistance program (MAP).
