RPGTMH Receives Mother Baby Friendly Accreditation

RPGTMH RECEIVES MOTHER BABY FRIENDLY ACCREDITATION

Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial Hospital was granted a Certificate of Accreditation for the Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHFI) after meeting the Department of Health's standards for breastfeeding promotion and newborn care.

The accreditation was officially awarded on June 25, 2026, following a reassessment conducted by the Department of Health, together with representatives from the Hospital Management Office, which confirmed the hospital's full compliance with the "Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding."

The evaluation covered key practices that support maternal and infant health, including immediate and uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact after birth, rooming-in of mothers and newborns, the prohibition of infant formula marketing within the facility, and continuous lactation training for medical and nursing personnel.

The recognition affirms RPGTMH's continued commitment to promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding while ensuring that mothers and newborns receive quality care from delivery until discharge.

The Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative is a Department of Health program that encourages healthcare facilities to implement policies and practices that enable mothers to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding, contributing to better nutrition, stronger immunity, and improved health for infants.
