Education leaders, officials, teachers, parents, partners, and learners gathered for the Education Summit 2026, a united effort to strengthen Ajuy’s vision of inclusive, quality learning for all.
The event opened with a cultural performance by the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) - Ajuy Performing Arts, followed by welcoming messages from Vice Mayor Jett C. Rojas and NISU Ajuy Campus Administrator Dr. Lebni T. Bernardino Jr., who underscored education as the “soul of progress.”
Key messages highlighted care, inspiration, and commitment to youth. Dr. Marlon P. Destreza emphasized compassion in guiding learners, while Dr. Raul N. Banias, representing Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., reaffirmed provincial support through literacy programs such as Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya (BES Probins) and the expansion of BES Basa Proof of Concept.
Mayor Loida J. Espinosa delivered the State of the Municipal Education Address, celebrating Ajuy’s Seal of Good Education award while outlining priorities: improving facilities, expanding feeding and health programs, boosting literacy, sustaining tutoring, and investing in teachers. “Education is the heart of Ajuy’s progress,” she said.
The summit also featured a capacity-building session led by Synergeia Foundation’s Edwin N. Nacionales, where stakeholders discussed challenges posed by mobile phones and social media, calling for balanced guidance to ensure technology supports learning.
A Statement of Support and Commitment was signed, pledging safe, learner-centered environments for Ajuynon children. Closing remarks by Hon. Benjamin C. Rojas III urged continued unity and dedication to education.
