A renewed push for stronger basic education outcomes took center stage as stakeholders gathered for the Municipal Education Summit in the Municipality of Alimodian over the weekend.
The summit, anchored on collaboration and shared responsibility, served as a platform to present the current state of education in the municipality while identifying urgent concerns and crafting actionable, community-driven solutions.
Around 250 participants from various sectors took part in discussions aimed at strengthening inclusive and learner-centered education.
Guest Speaker Janiuay Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Lucy Lamanero facilitated a workshop where stakeholders collectively mapped out interventions to improve learning outcomes, leading to the realization that sustainable reform requires strong ownership from schools, local officials, parents, and the wider community.
Meanwhile, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias also underscored the importance of mobilizing resources and reinforcing support systems to translate plans into measurable results.
During the summit, the local government showcased its education initiatives, including the establishment of four secondary schools, the deployment of 76 Local School Board teachers and literacy-numeracy tutors, and the implementation of Project IAN (Innovations Addressing Literacy and Numeracy), which supports scholars, reading camps, tutoring programs, and learner assistance activities such as school supplies and feeding support.
Mayor Ian Kenneth Alfeche reaffirmed the municipality’s sustained commitment to education reform.
“ I would like to enjoin all the stakeholders to extend full cooperation and commitment toward achieving meaningful and lasting education reform in the Municipality of Alimodian, ” Alfeche emphasized.
Also present in the summit were Iloilo 2nd District Cong. Kathryn Joyce F. Gorriceta, Iloilo Vice Governor Nathalie Ann Debuque, Former Cong. Michael Gorriceta, 2nd District Board Member June Mondejar, OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Lunie Sampani, CID Chief Dr. Nestor Paul Pingil, and Provincial Education Management Office (PEMO) Chief Maria Alfreda Fajardo.
