PPO Holds 1st Batch Of Peer Helpers Training

The Provincial Population Office held its first batch of Peer Helpers Training last April 25-27, 2023 at District 21 Hotel, Iloilo City. It aims to empower young leaders and capacitate them on basic peer helping as they serve in their respective school-based multi-purpose teen centers.

Topics such as Knowing about Self, Enhancing Personal Effectiveness, Life Skills, and Introduction to Basic Peer-to-Peer Helping were discussed with the participants.

Twenty-five (25) peer helpers from various secondary schools, namely Alameda National High School of Igbaras, Camangahan National High School of Guimbal, Bucari National High School of Leon, Jovita Alfaras Rivera National High School of Bingawan, and Layog National High School of Maasin, attended the said training.

Ms. Janel Tejida, Field Operations Division Chief of PPO, gave the welcome and closing remarks during the said activity.

Provincial team of trainers/facilitators were composed of Mr. Jemar Harold G. Jison, PPOI –Dueñas, Mr. John Niño T. Escorpion, PPOI-Igbaras, Ms. Ma. Simar P. Simora, PPOI-New Lucena, and Ms. Airis S. Penetrante, PPOII (2nd District), led by Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program Coordinator, Ms. Ruth A. Lujan.

One (1) more batch of Peer Helpers Training and one (1) Teen Center Coordinators Training under the Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program, specifically the School-Based Multi-Purpose Teen Center Project of the province are set to be conducted this year.
