ILOILO HOSTS 2025 OFW SUMMIT

The Province of Iloilo through the PESO - Province of Iloilo recently hosted the 2025 OFW Summit at the Passi City Arena, bringing together 1,325 participants from all 34 municipalities.

With the theme “Stronger Together: Advancing Welfare and Opportunities for OFWs and Their Families”, the event drew Municipal and City PESO Managers, OFW federation leaders, overseas workers, their families, local officials, and national agency partners.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, representing Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., pledged continued support and highlighted the provincial government’s OFW Scholarship Program for children of distressed migrant workers.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque and Fourth District Board Member Rolando B. Distura, author of the Iloilo Provincial Overseas Filipinos Migration and Development Center, also extended their support.

Local leaders led by host mayor Stephen Palmares of Passi City, along with mayors from Sara, San Dionisio, Banate, and Lemery, as well as vice mayors and Sangguniang Bayan members, delivered messages of solidarity and commitment.

The summit featured updates from key agencies, with OWWA Region VI OIC-Regional Director Rizza Joy Moldes and DMW Region VI OIC-Assistant Regional Director Rhea Glynda Calantas detailing enhanced programs and protection measures for OFWs.

Provincial PESO Manager Cynthia Dario presented Iloilo’s support services, while Federation of Iloilo OFWs and Families Adviser Francisco Heler, Jr. stressed the value of organized networks.
