Liga ng mga Barangay (LNB) Iloilo Province, headed by its President Amalia Victoria Debuque, is all set to hold Liga Day on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
Around 12,000 barangay officials from the 1,721 barangays of the province are expected to converge at the Iloilo Sports Complex for the grand celebration.
Debuque said they have already coordinated with the Iloilo City Traffic and Transportation Management Office (TTMO) and Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) about managing traffic and security around the venue.
She said among the national dignitaries who will grace the event are LNB National President Jessica Dy, Las Piñas Congresswoman Camille Villar, Senator Francis Tolentino, and Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr.
They have also invited House Speaker Martin Romualdez but the latter has yet to confirm his attendance.
Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. and the congressmen of the five districts of the province are also expected to grace the event.
Debuque said, aside from the guests’ speeches there will also be a lot of fun-filled activities for the barangay officials to enjoy.
Popular band Aegis will also perform later part of the day to entertain all the participants.
Debuque stressed that the holding of the traditional Liga Day aims to bolster camaraderie among the barangay officials and also for their capacity development.
