The Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resource Office (PGENRO) conducted a virtual convergence meeting to discuss its various activities for the month of June. It was attended by the MENRO, national government agencies, NGOs, POs, the academe, and other convergence partners.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. presented Executive Order No. 270 or an order implementing escalated dengue surge prevention and management measures in the province of Iloilo and Executive Order No. 271 implementing the "Limpyo sa Hunyo 2022: Panglimpyo Para sa Dengue kag Baha" in the province of Iloilo which will be held on June 17, 2022.
Limpyo sa Hunyo 2022 is composed of a cleanup drive to control the spread of dengue disease and a clearing operation to prevent flooding.
Governor Defensor said the convergence program aims to heighten the consciousness of people on dengue and flooding. “We want to have an impact because we want to elicit a chain reaction of behavior response,” he said.
PGENRO Senior Environmental Management Specialist Mitzi S. Peñaflorida also presented the Tanum Iloilo sa Hunyo 2022 - a province-wide tree growing for agriculture and public safety. It will be held on June 25, 2022 in celebration of the Provincial Arbor Day.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) VI also presented their Bike Hike Plant+ 2022 Program to be conducted on June 25, 2022. The route will be from the Esplanade 1-Skate Park to the Maasin Watershed Forest Reserve at Brgy. Daja, Maasin.
