The Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO-Iloilo) conducted a comprehensive inventory of Manual Rain Gauges (MRGs) across several key municipalities, including Calinog, Lambunao, Janiuay, and Maasin as part of Governor Arthur Defensor’s directive to strengthen the province's flood monitoring and early warning systems.
The inventory revealed various challenges, such as non-functional MRGs in Calinog and the need for additional gauges in strategic areas across the other municipalities.
In Lambunao, the focus is shifting toward automated solutions, with local officials advocating for the installation of an Automated Water-Level Sensor at the Agsirab Bridge.
The findings from this inventory will guide the PDRRMO's next steps, including the procurement of additional MRGs and the enhancement of local communication systems to ensure timely and effective disaster response across Iloilo.
