Governor Arthur R. Defensor Jr. convened a meeting with some provincial department heads and key officials to discuss updates on priority programs, infrastructure projects, and initiatives aimed at improving public services and advancing the province’s development.
Among the matters discussed were updates on the Government Center in Santa Barbara, along with the Provincial Government’s ongoing tourism programs and initiatives. Officials also reviewed efforts to further promote Iloilo’s tourism industry, preserve its cultural heritage, and support local economic development.
Officials likewise tackled the reported infestation of the Red-Striped Soft Scale Insect (RSSI) in the Municipality of Anilao. The Provincial Government discussed possible interventions and assistance, particularly for small farmers affected by the pest, to help protect their livelihoods and minimize damage to their farms.
The meeting also included updates on the Provincial Government’s SiPag at TiyaGa (Siguradong Pagkain, Tiyak na Galing-Kalusugan) Program, a flagship convergence initiative that promotes food security and addresses malnutrition in Iloilo. Through the program, the Provincial Government provides subsidized rice at ₱20 per kilogram to nutritionally at-risk families and undernourished children, helping ensure access to affordable and nutritious food for vulnerable households.
Housing initiatives were likewise reviewed, with discussions focusing on the progress of ongoing projects and plans to provide more Ilonggo families with safe, decent, and affordable housing.
The meeting forms part of the Provincial Government’s continuing efforts to monitor priority programs, strengthen coordination among departments, and ensure the effective implementation of programs and projects that benefit the people of Iloilo.
