The provincial government recognized the crucial contribution of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) in winning the fight against hunger and malnutrition in the province of Iloilo during the 3rd BNS Convention today at Grand Xing Imperial Hotel.
Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Maria Socorro Quiñon said it is a day of gratitude for the province’s nutrition champions and heroes.
“You are special because you carry the weight of your communities’ health with grace and courage. You are special because every child you weigh, every mother you guide, every family you comfort becomes stronger because of you,” Quiñon said.
Vice Governor and Acting Governor Lee Ann Debuque assured full support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in the implementation of health programs in the province of Iloilo.
“Because you deserve access to quality healthcare. Healthcare does not mean nga sa hospital lang. It begins with the entire well-being…It is important that we move forward, coordinated and collaborative, especially in the implementation of the Universal Healthcare Law,” Dubuque said.
The provincial government will also recognize the Provincial Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars for CY 2022 until 2025 and the Top 5 Performing Municipalities in the Nutrition Program for their exemplary nutrition programs and initiative.
