Through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, the Iloilo Provincial Government participated in the Visayas Region Validation Workshop for the National Plan on Violence Against Women on August 14-15, 2024 in Cebu City.
The United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) organised the event.
PSWDO’s Ms. Ann Rapunzel Ganzon represented the Provincial Council on Anti-Trafficking Violence Against Women and Children (PCAT-VAWC).
Since the enactment of RA 9262 in 2004, the Inter-Agency Council on Violence Against Women and Children (IACVAWC) has made strides to implement strategies to ensure the proper implementation of the law.
One of which is the crafting of the National Action Plan to End Violence Against Women (NAPEVAW) which is a review of the impacts of the accomplishments and the development of programs to address VAW - covering the key result areas in Protection, Response Systems, and Cross-cutting Structures.
This year marks another milestone as the IACVAWC, through the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) develops the 4th plan which will cover a span of 5 years, from 2025-2030.
For the first round of planning, the IACVAWC rounded up different government agencies, P/LGUs, NGOs, and other stakeholders from the Visayas Cluster (Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Western Visayas) to consolidate the gains and challenges in the implementation of the RA 9262 and recommendations to improve the NAPEVAW.
