To safeguard the health of school children, the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (PHO), in partnership with Relief International and UNICEF, recently held a Provincial Level Intersectoral and Stakeholders Meeting on Routine and School-Based Immunization (SBI).
The meeting aimed to fortify collaboration among health, education, and government agencies in preparation for the October rollout of the SBI program.
The SBI initiative is set to provide essential booster doses to Grades 1 and 7 students, protecting them from life-threatening vaccine-preventable diseases such as Measles, Rubella, Tetanus, and Diphtheria.
Grade 4 female students will also receive the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to reduce the risk of cervical cancer.
With the program's implementation from October 7 to 31, 2024, this concerted effort underscores the province's commitment to ensuring the well-being of its young learners and strengthening public health defences against preventable diseases.
